Austin Wintory, the film and video game composer behind the Journey screen composition, landed a Grammy nomination for The Pathless' ambient sound experience.

It was then followed up by a Steam release a year later on November 16, 2021. The American indie studio behind the project, which gained recognition for its work on the critically acclaimed diving and ocean exploration game named Abzu, also revealed that a physical edition of the title is planned to launch on the Nintendo Switch through iam8bit and Skybound Games distribution channels, with more details to be announced in the following month.

Publisher Annapurna Interactive and developer Giant Squid have announced that their 3D action-adventure title called The Pathless will be available for digital download on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles starting February 2.
